Postgraduate research events
Our postgraduate research events are designed to promote the School's research culture and to provide an opportunity for you to gain confidence in presenting your work to your peers.
Students are expected to attend regularly research seminars in their field and the Manchester Economic Seminar series. PhD students also organise a weekly seminar series, and students are expected to attend and present in this seminar series as well. The two main events of the calendar are then the internal PhD Conference and the NWSSDTP PhD Conference.
Internal PhD Conference
This annual conference, held internally at Manchester, is a lively event involving discussion and debate about the range of economics topics currently being researched in the School. It offers a great opportunity to strengthen scholarly and communicative links between students and staff.
NWSSDTP PhD Conference
The North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (NWSSDTP) PhD conference is held every year, in parternship with the University of Liverpool and Lancaster University. This offers students a great opportunity to communicate their research to economics experts from other institutions.
