About the School

Explore the School of Social Sciences, our people and our priorities.

The School of Social Sciences at The University of Manchester is home to nearly 3000 undergraduate students and over 400 postgraduate students (with a 35% international student population). Although we're a large, diverse School, we enjoy an atmosphere of close community, and our students and academics are able to work together across disciplines. We carry out theoretically-informed, empirical research, addressing major issues of private and public concern. Our research is founded on a unique combination of six disciplines; Economics, Politics, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Social Statistics and Philosophy.
