Sociology research

With research spanning themes of race, inequality, consumption, and protest, our scholars take on society's biggest questions and examine the intricacies of our everyday lives.

Our field-leading work helps to shape government policy in the UK and beyond.

We are a key component of several interdisciplinary research centres in the Faculty of Humanities, including:

  • the Centre on the Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE);
  • the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA);
  • the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI).
