Advice to charities

Charities encounter and have to navigate the same legal issues as businesses, as well as complying with the requirements of charity law. We can help with a range of issues, including:

  • what a charity is, and how to set one up;
  • understanding the charity’s constitution, how to comply with it and how it can be changed;
  • appointing trustees, organising trustee meetings, and dealing with disputes between trustees;
  • regulatory issues, such as questions about charity law, or data protection requirements; and
  • issues around employing staff and working with volunteers.

We can provide advice to our charity clients on how they can take forward their legal issue, but we cannot draw up constitutional documents or draft documents on their behalf.
