Older low paid workers in the UK

The focus of this scoping research project is on older low paid workers and their circumstances and experiences in the workplace.

Around 1.3 million older people in the UK continue to work past the state retirement age and this number is increasing. Some older people are still working in their 80s and 90s.

The research will involve survey data analysis and interviews with older people and employers.

An empty speech bubble

The policy implications of a better understanding of the circumstances and experiences of low paid older workers are far reaching not only for the well-being of older people but for economic recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic.
