Mormon men masculinity: qualitative analysis of religious normativity, secular representations of masculinity and their influence in males' subjectivity
The research looks at gender identities, ideas of manliness and womanliness, and notions of masculinity and femininity implicated in the process through which Mormon men reconcile a highly patriarchal heteronormative ideology with discourses of gender/sexual diversity and equality, or interact with it. In order to accurately describe such process, it seeks to enquire into the ways in which Mormons understand what “being a man” means and entails, trying to attend to the question of how Mormon masculine identities/masculinities are configured.
Masculinity, gender identities, gender relations, fatherhood, family and interpersonal relations, religion, religiosity, religious identities, religious dissidence.
