Project activities

Our activities aim to prepare guidelines for judicial processes in non-international armed conflicts.

A first exploratory workshop took place in Manchester in March 2015 with a view to mapping the main phases for which standards were deemed necessary. It brought together legal professionals, aid workers, representatives of intergovernmental and supranational bodies, academics and representatives of governments.

A second workshop took place in September 2016 in collaboration with the Centre Charles De Visscher pour le droit international et européen (CeDIE). The purpose of this second workshop was to identify the main standards of protection for each of the phases identified during the first workshop. This meeting was also intended for establishing a drafting committee which will start to elaborate our envisaged guidelines shortly after the workshop.

The draft guidelines will be reviewed on the occasion of a third and last workshop which we hope to hold in 2017. Dissemination will begin shortly afterwards.
