Manchester Free Legal Help
Manchester Free Legal Help is an advice-only service at the Civil Justice Centre, offering litigants in person guidance as they navigate the legal process.
Following legal aid cuts which took place in 2013, there are now very large numbers of people with no choice but to go through the court system without legal representation often facing opponents who have instructed barristers.
MFLH runs drop-in clinics on the second floor of the Civil Justice Centre. These clinics do not require an appointment and are seen on a first come first served basis. We recommend that you arrive at the location as close to the registration time as possible.
- Family Law; every Monday 1pm-3pm (registration time is 12.45pm); the first, second and last Friday of the month 10am-12pm (registration time is 9.45am).
- Immigration Law; the second and last Friday of the month 2pm-4pm (registration time is 1.30pm).
During these clinics, University of Manchester students take notes summarising the advice given by the lawyer, which you may take away.
The spaces at each clinic are limited and are allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Manchester Civil Justice Centre is located at 1 Bridge Street West, Manchester, M60 9DJ.
