My current role and how I got there

As a kid, I wanted to become a director. Funnily, I didn’t really understand what a director meant. To pursue this dream, during high school, I focused on humanities and social studies, and I fell in love with economics and the different ways companies do business.

I wanted to deep dive into both these areas, and the course at the University of Manchester provided the perfect symbiosis of the two.

My experience at Manchester

Learning about business while simultaneously discovering the principles of economics has prompted me to develop my critical thinking skills in order to make connections and seek for causations behind certain events, from both business and economics perspectives. The courses I took led me to exceptionally develop my critical thinking skills, adaptability, and interdisciplinarity.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend many recruiting and informative events, talk to numerous company representatives, and explore different industries. I believe that this gave me a good overview of what I could expect in my future and what the transferrable skills are across multiple industries.

My advice for future students

Think twice if this is really what you want to study. If you are certain in your choice, then you are most probably going to enjoy it – same as I did. But if you are not actually sure, take the time to reconsider your choice and possibly explore other programmes.

Then, once you start with the course, be consistent in studying; that way you’ll do well on the exams and also have free time for sports activities and meet your (new) friends.
