Why did you choose to study on this programme?

Coming from a mixed-race background and from previous experiences, like travelling, the study of other cultures and societies really appealed to me, which helped me choose Anthropology.

Why did you choose the University of Manchester?

Besides the anthropological work done by the ‘Manchester School’ I chose Manchester for its diversity and the work down my current staff in the department.

What do you like in Manchester as a city?

I like the feel that it’s a big city, with an amazing nightlife, but also that it has a campus feel to it – you feel like you are a part of something.

What has been the highlight of your course so far?

The opportunity to explore methods and my own interests – in ethnographer’s craft and in my dissertation to focus on what I find interesting and relevant.

What is it like to study in the school?

The fact that the staff are so approachable and the fact that the work that they do is so interesting makes the ‘school’ an amazing place to study.

What social/extra curricular opportunities have been opened up for you by studying at the University?

During my time at university I have become a member of the anthropology society, and  my studies have directed me towards an interest in other cultures, resulting in my election to the position of treasurer in the Japanese Society.
