Why did you choose to study on this programme?
I had enjoyed studying philosophy at A-Level, however I wanted to do a dual honours. I decided to studying Politics as well as it is such an integral part of both day-to-day life and understanding the way society works.

Why did you choose the University of Manchester?
The University of Manchester has both a fantastic education system as well as a wide range of extra curricular activities. I chose to study here because I wanted a great degree as well as enjoying my time at uni.
What do you like in Manchester as a city?
I wanted to live in a big city with a high student population. Manchester has some fantastic opportunities as well as great nights out, plus – it’s a lot cheaper than London.
What has been the highlight of your course so far?
Getting to study politics on a specific country in my 2nd year. I chose German Politics and Chinese Poltics and it was fascinating to compare the two.
What is it like to study in the school?
The School of Social Sciences is incredibly supportive of all of its students is therefore a great school of study in. It has a huge range of both courses and modules, ensure there’s something to interest everyone!
What social/extra curricular opportunities have been opened up for you by studying at the University?
- President and Treasurer of ThinkSoc (The Philosophy and Poltics Society).
- Small events coordinator and volunteers coordinator for Manchester RAG
- Student Rep
- Peer Mentor
- Giving talks at spring open days.
