Morgan Centre for the Study of Relationships and Personal Life

Research project on young couples and Civil Partnership

*Have you entered a Civil Partnership?

Were you under the age of 35?

If so, we would love to hear the story of your relationship.

What’s it about?

We are undertaking a study of same sex couples, who have had a Civil Partnership, to find out how they met, what attracted them to each other, how their relationship developed and what it’s like to be in Civil Partnership.

Whose experience would we like to hear about?

We would like to hear from couples who entered a Civil Partnership in the UK before they turned 35. We are interested in both couple and individual stories.

What happens?

If you and your partner are interested in taking part in this study, you will be asked to tell your story in an informal interview with one of us. We will arrange a convenient time to visit you, at your home or at another local venue. If you need a language interpreter, or a signer, this can be arranged.

Confidentiality

Everything that you tell us will remain confidential between you and the research team. We will seek your permission to digitally record the interview so that we can type up detailed and accurate record of your story, which will be fully anonymised. The sound recording will be securely stored and only made available to members of the research team. When we report the findings, no information that could possibly identify you will be included.

How will the study be used?

We hope to bring together stories, like yours, to inform people about the realities of same sex relationships and Civil Partnerships. This will be done by writing articles and communicating findings to policy makers, service providers and interest groups in LGBT communities and elsewhere.

Who are we?

We are three researchers (lesbian, gay and straight) who are interested in the everyday realities of same sex relationships. Like most people, we have experienced the ins and outs of relationships and we would love to hear your story.
