I started my PhD at the University of Manchester in 2006. My first degree was in psychology at the University of St Andrews and I later completed an MA in Social Research at the University of Leeds. Between 2004-2006 I also worked as Research Associate for the ESRC funded study ‘Children Creating Kinship’.
PhD Thesis
“Human-Animal Sociality in a Suburban Neighbourhood”.
Supervised by Professor Jennifer Mason and Professor Carol Smart, funded by the ESRC.
In my PhD research I am looking at the various interactions, intersections and engagements between humans and animals in the everyday life of a suburban neighbourhood. I am conducting ethnographic fieldwork to explore the ways in which humans interact with a range of creatures, including pet animals and garden wildlife.
