Morgan Centre for Research into Everyday Lives

Two terraced houses

Home and housing

This strand of research goes beyond the front door to explore our everyday experiences of housing and home.

This includes a focus on our interactions with those with whom we live, our use of domestic spaces and household resources, and the ways in which we relate to material objects in our homes.

Our ‘Under the same roof’ project is investigating everyday life for people sharing housing with people who aren’t family members, for example: lodgers, live-in landlords, house/flatsharers, housing co-op members or co-housers.

In our 'Dormant things' project we explore the lives of everyday objects kept in homes even though they are no longer used.
