Call for Papers for Yearbook 2009 (European Minorities in Cross-Disciplinary Perspective)

The Manchester JMCE Yearbook aims to publish the most innovative articles from postgraduates on the broadly-defined concept of Europe, as well as original thinking on sub- and supra-European issues. Interdisciplinary and wide-ranging, the Yearbook is a forum for discussion in any aspect of Europe including for example social sciences, business, law, arts, histories, languages, linguistics, and cultures. We accept submissions from all advanced research students. Postgraduates at JMCE-affiliated institutions in the UK and across Europe are particularly encouraged to submit.

The Yearbook aims to be at the cutting edge of research on Europe; to establish a reputation for challenging preconceptions about our understanding of the area; and to open new approaches to the study of Europe via the inclusion of new, alternative disciplines of research. Thanks to its close ties to the student research community, the Yearbook aspires to be a high-quality yet accessible publication. More broadly, the Yearbook aims to:

  • raise the profile of the Manchester JMCE specifically within the postgraduate community;
  • promote the study of European Studies (broadly defined) more widely;
  • facilitate knowledge transfer;
  • strengthen further the collaborative work undertaken by postgraduates across the three institutions, building on the work done for the postgraduate conference in January 2008;
  • reposition the Centre as an active player in postgraduate learning and training.

All articles will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field on the basis of which they are accepted, rejected or subject to revisions.
