Graduation
If you have been awarded a MA/MSc, Postgraduate Diploma or a Postgraduate certificate you are eligible to attend our Graduation ceremony on 12 December 2011.
Information regarding the ceremony including details about registering on-line can be found at the Student Services Centre website (Select Academic Life from the menu on the left-hand side and scroll down to Graduation). On the day of your Graduation Ceremony you are also invited to a Graduation Reception hosted by the School of Social Sciences. In Judy this takes place in a Marquee located at the side of University place before the graduation ceremony. Normally in December it takes place in the Common Room on the ground floor of the Arthur Lewis Building either before or after the ceremony.
What does the interim result mean?
- PSTD: You have passed the taught element of your programme and you are formally proceeded to dissertation. You submit your dissertation by the deadline (see page 40 of the the School Handbook)
- Upgrade and PSTD: you have successfully passed the taught element of your Postgraduate Taught programme at MA/MSc standard. You have now been upgraded to the MA/MSc and Passed Subject to Dissertation. You are now required to submit your dissertation within the next four months. You need to contact the University's tuition fees office (self.funding@manchester.ac.uk) to arrange to pay the difference in fees between the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters programme and you need to attend the Students Services Centre on Burlington Street to pick up a new student ID card.
- Potential Pass/Merit/Distinction: this advises you what classification of degree you are currently working towards. Your final classification is dependent on your Dissertation mark.
- Potential distinction - you must obtain a mark of 70 in your dissertation to get a distinction.
- Potential merit - you must obtain a mark of 60 in your dissertation to obtain a merit.
- To pass your MA you need to obtain a mark of at least 50 in your dissertation.
Results - Good luck everyone and Congratulations!
