Research methods in the social sciences
methods@manchester is a Faculty initiative which promotes methodological excellence, innovation and inter-disciplinarity and which aims to be relevant and useful to PhD students and research staff.
methods@manchester holds weekly lunch-time talks that provide introductions to a wide range of research methods, e.g. social network analysis, ethnography, structural equation modelling, creative interviewing. Audio recordings of these and other talks are available on the resources page of the methods website.
Additional workshops focus on particular methods or resources and provide an opportunity for discussion and exchange. Visit the events page for the full list of events.
A Blog is hosted on the methods@manchester website. This is a space to reflect on the events and activities taking place, or on other methods-related issues. The m@m team welcome your comments and reflections.
The methods@manchester annual competition is now open. The competition is open to all staff in the Humanities Faculty, but applications from more junior members of staff will be particularly welcome (Joint applicants who are outside the Faculty or University but within the ESRC North West Doctoral Training Centre are particularly welcome). The scheme is not open to PhD students. Applications should be submitted by Wednesday 21 December 2011 and should not exceed 3 A4 pages. Viist the news page for more information.
Please go to the website and join the mailing list. You will then receive a weekly email of events and news.
