Financial Frictions, Labour Markets and Macroeconomic and Financial Policy

Background

Kasun is currently an Economics PhD student at the School of Social Sciences in the Macroeconomics, Growth and Development Research Area Group.

He is funded by the School of Social Sciences Economics studentship.

He finished his master’s degree, MSc Financial Economics, from The University of Manchester in 2015.

He is also an employee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, from which he has received study leave to complete postgraduate studies. Kasun has about 5 years of working experience as a central banker and more than 2 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry in Sri Lanka.

He obtained his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2008.

Later, he completed a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka in 2013. Kasun is also an associated member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.

Research interests

Kasun is mainly interested in the analysis of monetary and macro-prudential policies with DGSE models. He is currently working on building theoretical models on the said area, while he is also interested in empirical estimations of related models.

Special achievements

Nominated for the Faculty of Humanities’ “PGT Student of the Year Award” at The University of Manchester in the academic year 2014/15.

Top performer in the Economics PGT programme for the year 2014/15.

Awards

Outstanding performance in the postgraduate economics programme in the academic year 2014/15 at The University of Manchester.
