Head of Social Anthropology, Professor Jeanette Edwards
Jeanette Edwards was appointed as a lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester in 1999. Her research focuses on kinship and biotechnology and she has a long-standing interest in the anthropology of Britain. She was elected Vice President of the European Association of Social Anthropologists in 2011.
Director of Postgraduate Programmes, Professor Peter Wade
Peter Wade is director of the MA in Anthropological Research and of the research degree programmes (MPhil, PhD). His research focuses on themes of race, ethnicity, nation and also covers diverse topics, including music and genetics. His regional focus is Latin America, especially Colombia, where he has done several periods of fieldwork.
Director of the B.Soc.Sci Undergraduate Programme, Dr Tony Simpson
Tony Simpson is programme director for the B.Soc.Sci Undergraduate Programme. His research focuses on themes of education, masculinities, Christianity, and HIV/AIDS. His regional focus is Sub-Saharan Africa, especially Zambia, where he has conducted extensive fieldwork.
