CIP unsigned
Mission statement
CIP unsigned consists of a series of student-led colloquiums. These colloquiums will provide research students with a fantastic opportunity to present their work to other students and staff, as well as facilitating an exchange of ideas between participants. CIP unsigned will enable staff and students to exchange and share ideas, engage critically with each other’s work and provide a fertile ground from which student’s can develop their research.
A successful research community relies upon a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere in which individuals can engage with each other’s ideas in a constructive and beneficial manner. CIP unsigned will provide students with essential experience, allowing them to practice presenting papers and to test their ideas and conclusions. It will also provide staff with the opportunity to become more involved within the research community and give them the chance to appreciate the work being undertaken by PhD students. CIP unsigned will undoubtedly prove to be a perfect forum in which students and staff can interact with each other and allow presenters to gather feedback and comments on their work.
CIP unsigned is driven by three underlying objectives:
- Firstly, CIP unsigned seeks to promote student development by providing a forum in which they can expose their ideas and conclusions, gather feedback on their work and develop their presentation skills.
- Secondly, CIP unsigned aims to provide a medium through which the work of CIP can be showcased to other members of the department, as well as students and staff throughout the School of Social Sciences.
- Finally, CIP unsigned will seek to enhance the profile of CIP within the Department of Politics and the wider academic community at the University of Manchester.
