New British Conservatism & Social Values Symposium

New British Conservatism & Social Values is an interdisciplinary exploration of values-driven political agendas with academics from politics and theology alongside policy experts and key stakeholders from the voluntary sector. This select group will present formal papers and engage in discussion concerning the political content and articulation of British conservative values:

The aim of the day is to facilitate a conversation between those working to articulate conservative values publicly and those working for national voluntary sector or faith-based agencies in areas of mutual interests, for example:
- The diversity and changing role of faith-based, and other value-based, civil society organizations, NGOs, in the provision of social services;
- The political tensions negotiated between identity groups with diverse , intersecting and competing social values;
- The tensions inherent in the mobilization of diverse social capital towards social cohesion .
The event is jointly sponsored by The School of Social Sciences and The School of Arts, History and Culture and hosted by Manchester Research Institute for Religion and Civil Society and Politics researchers in Governance, Representation and Policy.
