Centre for International Politics (CIP)

The Centre for International Politics (CIP) brings together academic staff and research students working in the broad field of international politics. We have expertise in development, the environment, ethics, foreign policy, gender, global governance, human rights, international theory, the media, regionalism, trade, transition and security. In addition, we have area specialisms in Africa, East Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Indian Ocean and the US. We are one of the largest and best centres of international politics in the UK.
CIP members sit on the executive committees of the British International Studies Association (BISA) and the International Studies Association (ISA) and are active in a range of other professional organisations. A number of journals and book series are edited from Manchester. Our members are regularly consulted by government, the non-governmental sector and the media. Each year we host a number of high profile workshops and conferences. And our work is published in the leading journals and by the most significant publishers. Information on the work of members of CIP is provided in our individual research profiles.
CIP strives to produce and support scholarship of the highest quality. We provide our staff and research students with an encouraging and supportive environment. Each year CIP hosts a major postgraduate event. We take our teaching as seriously as we do our research, a commitment that is reflected in both our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching provision. Our size and quality enables us to offer a wide variety of high quality courses at the cutting edge of knowledge.
