History of Philosophy
The history of analytical philosophy is one of Manchester's particular strengths. Graham Stevens’ main interest in this area is Russell’s philosophical development, and this interest in Russell is also shared by Sean Crawford. Julian Dodd has a strong interest in Wittgenstein and the Tractatus in particular. Thomas Uebel, meanwhile, is an acknowledged world expert on the Vienna Circle, and has a particular interest in Neurath: an interest shared by John O’Neill. Joel Smith has an interest in post-Kantian philosophy, espeically phenomenology. Finally, Sean Crawford has a long-standing interest in Descartes’s philosophy of mind.
