Economics MSc
Our recently restructured MSc in Economics is intended to provide a rigorous and balanced training in modern Economics for those who intend to pursue a career as a professional economist or to undertake further study in Economics at MRes or PhD level. If you have a good undergraduate background in micro, macro and econometrics, this programme is the next step to an advanced training in the core of the subject.
Economics MA
Our new MA programme provides a broad training in economics for those whose career trajectory is towards the practical use of economics in a government or policy setting, or who plan to use their economics skills in business. Like the MSc you will need an undergraduate background in micro and macro, but there is no presumption that you have studied econometrics before. You will however need the skills in basic mathematics and statistics to enable you to study introductory econometrics. Students without the required background in economics or quantitative methods may wish to consider the Diploma in Economics (see below).

Economics and Econometrics MSc
For students with a good undergraduate background in both economics and econometrics, this programme provides advanced instruction and rigorous training in economic and econometric theories and the relevant methods of empirical research in those areas. Aimed at those who are keen to pursue a more “technical” approach to the discipline of economics, the programme is also an ideal foundation for PhD study in economics and related areas.
Financial Economics MSc
For those who wish to apply their interest and skills in economics to the study of financial markets, the MSc Financial Economics programme combines a rigorous training in core economics with a solid introduction to the key theoretical and empirical techniques used by economists to understand the financial system. The programme is an excellent qualification for those interested in working as economists in financial organisations, and also serves as a foundation for further study in financial economics.
