Professional biography
Stefan studied Economics at the University of Mannheim (Germany), Western Illinois University (Macomb, Illinois, USA), and Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana, USA), where he received his Doctor of Philosophy in 1993.
He was assistant professor at the University of Mannheim and the University of Bonn (Germany), visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, senior economist at the United Bank of Switzerland (Zurich), visiting associate professor at Purdue University, visiting professor at National University Kiev (Ukraine), and researcher at the Centre for European Economic Research (Mannheim). From September 2004 until August 2006, he was a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Manchester.
Specific research interests
From September 2006 on, Stefan has been working in consulting. Since October 2007, he is a member of KPMG’s Global Transfer Pricing Services (GTPS) based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Stefan’s work includes development, analyses and valuations of transfer pricing systems during restructurings, in particular in connection with mergers, acquisitions or divestitures.
Stefan’s academic research interests are the economics of multi-national enterprises, product brand differentiation, cost structures and industry structure, foreign direct investment and firm performance, and the determinants of mergers and divestitures.
