About Sociology
Sociology is the study of social life, social change and the social causes and consequences of human behaviour. For sociologists the lives of individuals can only be understood through studying the wider social context in which we live. Sociology includes the study of group life and looks at the things we hold in common as well as the differences between us. It asks questions such as:
- why do the things we regard as 'natural' change over time?
- what are the hidden rules of social relationships?
- how do changes in social life come about, and what are their implications?
